Mechanical Design Engineer – Robotics

Full Time Position £22,000 – 55,000 + Neg. Depending on ability

We will accept candidates with no formal qualifications if they can demonstrate the necessary skill set.

• Do you have practical hands on ability to create functional and aesthetic designs?
• An intuitive understanding of mechanics coupled with a keen eye for an elegant solution?
• Ability to use and learn new software design tools?
• Able to listen, absorb new ideas and extrapolate novel solutions?

This position is open to raw talent, with the ability and enthusiasm to learn quickly, through to experienced professionals looking for a new challenge.

Design of complex mechanical, pneumatic and motor driven systems. Simulation, calculation and analysis to optimise designs.

You will work closely with our prototype production team – Engineered Arts Ltd operate an extremely rapid prototype development cycle with state of the art in house production facilities.

Working with AutoDesk Inventor Professional

Internship & Trainee Positions – Paid

We currently have intern / trainee positions available!

Duration 6 months (min.) to 12 months

We pay our trainees and interns  £10,400 – £15,600 PA depending on age / experience.

Open to school leavers, college graduates at all levels.

School Work Experience

Engineered Arts Ltd offer 1 or 2 work placements a year for local area school students, these run for one week only.

There’s a lot of competition for these places and we will choose students that we think will benefit the most from a weeks experience.

We base our decision on what you have done, and the personal dedication you have shown to making, coding or design.

Ability to pass exams is not necessarily the the most useful thing for designing and building cutting edge robots!

Our recruitment policy is evidence based, we like to see what you can actually do.
Formal qualifications look nice on a CV, but they don’t mean much without the practical ability to achieve results.

Personal projects are highly valued, a photo of a rough model made with cardboard and hot glue is better than nothing.

Software:

• Code:  C++, Python, JS, Haskell, CUDA

Mechanical Design:

• A working example of mechanism you have designed – can be virtual
• Pictures or videos of any robots you have worked on – please make your contribution clear
• A personal project, an invention, a concept, a real or virtual model
• Evidence of solid modelling experience – a downloadable file in STEP or IGES format
• Lego, Meccano or other similar projects

3D Design:

• Real 3d objects you have designed and or made 
• Evidence of solid modelling experience – a downloadable file in STEP or IGES format
• Drawings and sketches done by hand
• Photos, videos presentations in PDF format.

Electronic And Embedded:

• Video of your control system working – could be a drone an RC project, an automated goldfish feeder
• Links to embedded code
• circuit diagrams, schematics and project notes

CNC Programmer Operators:

• Photos or videos or parts you have made
• Any personal projects, a vehicle restoration, a thing made of metal or plastic
• Screen grabs showing a machining strategy
